Andrew- Plumbing Class
Andrew enrolled in our Spring 2023 Plumbing class. He worked at a Subway and also operated a small business focused on cleaning dryer vents.
Andrew came to the class seeking a plumbing apprentice position. His quiet but disciplined approach to learning and and class so impressed one our instructors that he was hired immediately after the class to begin working as an apprentice plumber!
You never now what doors will open when you take the first step.
Beatriz- ESL & Electrical Class
Beatriz and her husband and kids started attending out Tuesday evening ESL classes in Fall 2022 and quickly became one of most consistent students. When we launched our Electrical classes in Spring 2023, Beatriz enrolled! Her goal was to up-skill, since she already worked on the assembly line of an electronics manufacturing plant.
One day, she told her supervisor that she was taking a RCHS Trades class and described what was she was learning and doing. Her supervisor was so impressed that he promoted her to the robotics division. Beatriz’s story is one of a whole family being impacted by RCHS.

Ydanny, ESL and Electrical Classes
Hello. I am Yddany and I have been in Cedar Park Texas since May 2024. I’m really grateful with God because a friend told me about ESL Classes. It was a blessing to me because I couldn’t express or communicate by myself when I arrived here, so I started studying by myself. But when I began my ESL classes I had the opportunity to enjoy my journey led of good teachers. It became a strong tool to develop my learning.
I am so grateful about the effort of every teacher and even keeping in touch teaching, even on vacation. We have built a good connection. I know I have a lot of hard work ahead to reach my goal to be fluent and confident in English, but with the help of ESL classes I will for sure get it, in the name of God.
Eric Traugott - 2025
Taking the trade classes at River City Hope Street has had a significant
impact on my life. After completing the electrical course, I was hired
as an electrician's helper. I truly enjoy my new job and have built
great relationships with my coworkers. The hands-on training has been
invaluable, and I continue to learn and grow in my field every day.

I teach English as a Second Language because my faith tradition calls me to “love my neighbor.” It also calls me to use my talents to benefit those in the community. Since I have an English degree, I feel I am utilizing my unique combination of talents, skills, time and compassion to help immigrants learn English and navigate American culture.
